The Prelude on Conventional and Advance Treatment of Pemphigus Vulagaris (pv): a Review

چکیده
The Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a group of highly lethal autoimmune disease characterized by mucocutaneous erosions or blisters. Pemphigus vulgaris can be present in different forms like oral and topical. So, it is challenging to manage and treat. Mortality rate due to Pemphigus vulgaris can be decreased by using systemic corticosteroids, but the present treatment options are limited due to the toxicity profiles of drugs available for treating Pemphigus vulgaris. Recent studies that shed light on the molecular mechanisms involved in the disease had lead to introduction of advance therapies like immunoadsorption, extracorporeal photochemotherapy (ECP), tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) treatment and few other treatments have been subject to randomized control trials to firmly establishes therapeutic efficacy. The present review emphasized on management of the condition, most commonly conventional treatments and recent treatment advances.

Objective: As a rare autoimmune disease, pemphigus vulgaris has a poor prognosis especially in lack of proper medical support. This blistering disease involves both the skin and mucus membranes. The challenge is improving the healing process of skin lesions of which, superimposed infections are among the main causes of the disease mortality. Accordingly, we aimed to assess the treatment options...

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a chronic autoimmune blistering disease of the skin, in whichloss of adhesion between keratinocytes is caused by autoantibodies. It has been hypothesizedthat cytokines play an essential role in the pathogenesis of PV. This study aimed to investigatethe other immunopathological aspects of PV by determining the serum levels of cytokines inPV patients to find another tre...
متن کاملSuccessful treatment of major pemphigus vulgaris relapse with mycophenolate mofetil and high-potent topical corticosteroid
Background: Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is an autoimmune bullous disorder that is fatal if left untreated. High dose systemic corticosteroids are the basis of therapy. The addition of immunosuppressive agents has improved the disease outcome and reduced the required corticosteroid dose and related toxicity. Mycophenolate mofetil is increasingly used as a steroid-sparing agent in immunotherapy of PV...
